Lubbock Ministry Becomes Part of Buckner

LUBBOCK, Texas – My Father’s House Lubbock became part of Buckner Children and Family Services Feb.22.

Under an agreement between the two non-profit organizations, Buckner is assuming full operation of My Father’s House Lubbock, an ecumenical ministry to women in need in the Lubbock area. Buckneroperates Buckner Children’s Home in Lubbock and numerous community ministries.

“The opportunity to sustain the work of My Father’s House Lubbock for the future is an honor and a blessing for us,” said Albert Reyes, president of Buckner Children and Family Services. “Our prayer is that God continues blessing this work as it becomes part of the ministries of Buckner in Lubbock and throughout West Texas.”

According to Buckner officials, My Father’s House Lubbock will retain its name and will continue needing extensive local financial support.

“My Father’s House has a wonderful history of receiving local support,” Reyes said. “We know the Lubbock community is committed to this work and we are encouraging those who support Buckner and My Father’s House to see this as an opportunity to create a true synergy as we bring the two ministries together for the benefit of the community.”

This marks the second occasion Buckner has been invited to join efforts with a Lubbock program. In 1957, officials at the Milam Girls Home asked Buckner to assume responsibility for its Lubbock operations. It was later renamed Buckner-Milam Girls Home and today is Buckner Children’s Home located at 129 Brentwood Ave.

My Father’s House Lubbock is an ecumenical ministry that provides a way for women who are poverty-impacted, homeless, abused or at-risk to take a new direction in their lives.
